The Law Commission report into Taxi&Private Hire services has been further postponed until May 23rd. After publishing responses and an interim statement in April of last year, this is the second postponement of the final full report. Having already suffered a delay from its original due date of December 2013 to April 2014, this current development is due to the ‘sensitive’ period leading up to the local and European elections.
This week saw the Department for Transport amending the governments Deregulation Bill adding clauses relating to Taxi&PHVs. This could be the Coalition’ way of safe guarding proposed reform in the event of the final Law Commission report being delayed until next parliament.
